Signing up and/or Enrolling Students in Bulk

This feature is for Teachers.

As a teacher, you can sign up new students for Floop and enroll them in a class, or enroll students who already have a Floop account in a class.

Get to the Bulk Enroll feature


There are three ways to get to the bulk enroll feature:

  1. From your Class, go to the Students tab

    1. If you have no students enrolled in the class yet, click the Learn More button inside the Bulk Enroll modal

    1. If you already have students enrolled, click or hover over the Add Students dropdown menu and select Bulk .csv enroll

  1. From your Class, go to the Settings tab and click or hover over the Add Students dropdown menu and select Bulk .csv enroll

Bulk Signup and Enrollment


From the Bulk .csv enroll modal, follow these steps to add new or existing students to your class:

  1. Upload

    1. Click Select File

    2. Select a CSV with the students you want to Sign up and/or enroll in your class

    3. Click Upload and Preview

      1. If there are any problems with how your CSV is formatted, you will see error messages. Scroll down past the signup steps to see a list of possible validation errors and what you can do to fix them

  1. Confirm

    1. Review the data and make sure it’s correct. 

      1. If something doesn’t look right, click the Back button, edit your CSV, and repeat step 1

    2. Click the button in the bottom right corner of the modal that says either Confirm or Enroll and Confirm. If it says Confirm, you will skip step 3

  1. Age Check

    1. You may be asked to confirm that none of the students in your CSV are under the age of 13. Confirm this is true by clicking the checkbox

    2. Click Enroll

  1. Enrolling

    1. Wait while your students are signed up and/or enrolled in your class

  2. Done

    1. Your students have been enrolled! Click OK to exit the modal.

CSV Validation


There are 12 possible validation errors that can appear when trying to upload and preview a CSV:

  • Requested header(s) are missing - One or more of the required headers weren’t found. Check that your CSV has the following headers: First_Name, Last_Name, Email, and Password

  • First_Name missing on row(s) - No value was found in the First_Name column on the specified rows. Add a first name on the listed rows to resolve

  • Last_Name missing on row(s) - No value was found in the Last_Name column on the specified rows. Add a last name on the listed rows to resolve

  • Email missing on row(s) - No value was found in the Email column on the specified rows. Add an email on the listed rows to resolve

  • Password missing on row(s) - No value was found in the Password column on the specified rows. Add a password on the listed rows to resolve

  • Invalid email on row(s) - Improperly formatted emails were found. Make sure all emails are formatted correctly, e.g. myEmail@myDomain.com

  • Duplicate emails were found - More than one row has the same email. Either remove the duplicate rows or change the duplicated emails

  • Too few fields: expected 'x' fields but parsed 'y' on row(s) - There are less fields in the listed rows than there are headers. Make sure there is a data field in each row for every header

  • Too many fields: expected 'x' fields but parsed 'y' on row(s) - There are more fields in the listed rows than there are headers. Make sure there is a data field in each row for every header

  • Passwords must be at least 6 characters. Password too short on row(s) - Make sure all passwords are at least 6 characters long

  • The following email(s) are associated with teacher accounts and cannot be enrolled - You can’t enroll emails associated with teacher accounts. Change the email address to resolve

  • Names cannot contain emojis. Invalid name(s) on row(s) - The First_Name or Last_Name columns contains emojis. Remove the emojis to resolve

FAQ


For an existing student, will their name in my class roster come from the CSV I upload?

No. Roster names for existing students come from the student’s account.


My students have Google accounts. Will this affect how they can sign in?

New students enrolled with a Google account can sign in using either their email and password or with the Sign In with Google button
